Connection Therapy group was established in the early 2000s. Connection Therapy Group is a teaching practice composed of providers and graduate interns who treat individuals, families, and groups across all ages and multiple specialties. We offer medication management and psychological care via in-person and telehealth visits. Dr. Rachel has been part of Connection Therapy Group since 2012 where she currently practices and oversees graduate interns as the Executive Director.
Effective outpatient psychological care is our primary motivation at Connection Therapy Group. We are committed to assisting individuals, couples, and families through individualized treatment. We offer individual and group formats spanning all ages.
With wide-reaching specializations, Dr. Rachel Christian Gulley holds post-graduate board certifications in sex addiction therapy, betrayal trauma, and sex therapy. She is a Rome Foundation GI Psych mental health provider and works in collaboration with many clinics in the area. Dr. Rachel received a Bachelor of Science in clinical psychology and Master of Education in clinical counseling, education, and supervision from Middle Tennessee State University and her Ph.D. in the same from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Her Ph.D. research studied the moderating effects of mindfulness practices and psychological adaptation on the relationship between IBD symptom severity and anxiety, depression, and life satisfaction.
Dr. Rachel holds clinical memberships in the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, Rome Foundation, The International Society for Sexual Medicine, and The International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health.

Dr. Rachel uses a CBT approach to address biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to your overall health with the goal of improving quality of life.

Small amounts of anxiety are an expected part of life, however, anxiety can easily grow to cause varying levels of distress. In addition, physical illnesses, addictions, or other co-occurring issues may be exacerbated by worry. Dr. Rachel has experience treating anxiety disorders across the anxiety spectrum. She has training from the Beck Institute in treating anxiety disorders from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model and can assist you in your journey to fully living your life.
Compulsive sexual behavior affects up to 11% of the United States population, although numbers are thought to be far greater than reported. Approximately 164 behaviors have been identified by those struggling with compulsive sexual behavior (www.sexhelp.com, 2021). Individuals who struggle with compulsive sexual behavior can be any age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or profession- no one is excluded.

Partners and children of those experiencing compulsive sexual behavior experience the same type of post-traumatic stress as veterans who have experienced combat. At Connection Therapy Group, we have a complete partners' program which mirrors the compulsive sexual behavior program.
Dr. Rachel is a Board-Certified Partner Trauma Therapist, trained in working with partners and children, who can attend to the wounds caused by infidelity or compulsive sexual behaviors.

Couples come to our practice for a variety of reasons. Whether it's creating better connection and communication, and taking your relationship from good to great, or infidelity, compulsive sexual behavior, and crisis, we are here for your needs. Dr. Rachel is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), providing the most evidenced-based couples treatment available (Johnson, 2018).
Life transitions come in many forms across the lifespan. Whether adjusting to a medical diagnosis, relationship change, job change, or other transition, outside support can be very helpful. Interventions and approaches will be individually tailored to best suit the individual and situation.
Sex therapy focuses on any or all of the five domains of sexual functioning. Centering on what has shaped your sexuality, Dr. Rachel uses an interdisciplinary approach to improve your sexual health. Rachel primarily treats sexual pain disorders, infertility, and women's issues, among other sexual dysfunctions.
Sex therapy is done with or without your partner. Some individuals seek sex therapy while single! Others prefer coming in without their partner. If you are in a relationship and the sexual problem is impacting you both, you may be encouraged to come in together at times if possible.
